In this video we go over some ideas on acclimating new arrivals to our reef tanks. Acclimating corals is important to reduce stress on them as the travel can be very rough, especially if they were shipped. Acclimation also gives you the opportunity to dip the corals to remove pests before they are placed into their new home.

My 75 gallon reef tank. This is a low tech setup. I just have a skimmer and a carbon reactor running, and two powerhead for water circulation. There's no refugium/sump under the tank. No dosing of calc., mag., alk., etc. Only tap water was used.

250 gallon reef lit with 560 1 watt LEDs. Algae turf scrubbing system.
the tank was lit for years with 900 watts of MH and 80 watts of Actinic florescent. My refrigeration unit hardly ever comes on anymore.
Half are 12000K white ones and the others are about 450nm blue.
I like these LEDs enough that I am now importing them for other reef keepers...

Each coral pictued, is the most common colour and variety of that coral. Many of the corals listed will come in many different colours, or slightly different forms. Often the more unusual colours the more expensive a coral will be!!.
